The maison’s handbags have long been must-haves, from the Nylon to the Galleria and Cleo – and now the Bonnie, beloved by Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid

If there’s one iconic Prada item every woman needs to own, it should be one of their handbags. Ever since its Nylon series debuted in 1984, the Italian label has created a string of signature styles that embody its pursuit of innovation, spirit of unconventionality, and timeless allure. From the elegant, structured Galleria bag to the youthful Cleo, every design masterfully blends intelligent construction with functional sophistication for a look that is uniquely Prada.

The Bonnie, which was launched in the spring/summer season of 2024, is the latest to be inducted into the brand’s handbag hall of fame. It commands attention with its beautiful, thoughtful design while its versatility and ease have made it a favourite with celebrities including Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid. In fact, Hadid is photographed holding her Bonnie bag close while on the beach in Prada’s 2026 Days of Summer advertising campaign.

So what is it about the latest Bonnie bags that makes them so covetable? The elongated silhouette feels fresh and modern, while slender handles allow them to slip neatly under the shoulder with ease. Thoughtful details add character, including a sleek strap outlining the zip closure and decorative metallic buckles – a reference to Prada’s iconic belts and a nod to its heritage. Then there is the distinctive liquid-glass sheen – an effect achieved through an artisanal leather treatment that requires intense buffing to create a satiny texture and rich chromatic depth.

For spring/summer 2026, the Bonnie comes in versatile silhouettes including more spacious versions and crossbody styles, as well as compact pochettes. Fresh textures add a new dimension too: choose from velvety, smooth suede to a summer-friendly raw linen, which is paired with natural leather. The latter features an artisanal lino painted technique where pigment is meticulously hand-applied to create a patina giving a subtle worn-in look that screams understated luxury.

Fortunately, the Bonnie isn’t exclusive to women. The men’s collection features more generous forms that are still practical and easy to carry. Highlights include a style rendered in washed denim that is soft to the touch, making it the perfect addition to any relaxed summer wardrobe.
