A woman carrying a knife has been arrested after being tackled by the crowd during the Rain Rave Water Music Festival in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.
In a viral video, a man can be seen attempting to disarm the woman.
Several others from the crowd, along with security personnel, then joined in to restrain her until the police arrived.
She was seen being arrested shortly after.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus reportedly confirmed the arrest of the 28-year-old woman for possession of a weapon.
She is expected to be remanded on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the event’s success promoted tourism and local businesses while showing that Malaysia embraces unity.
Nga said the festival attracted 80,000 participants from around the world and 200,000 online viewers.
“Malaysia Truly Asia is not a slogan but our culture and way of life. Diversity is our strength,” he said in a social media statement on Sunday.
Nga also echoed the views of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing.
“Just as our Tourism Minister Tiong said, for those who wish to come, we welcome you.
“For those who disagree, it is your right to choose to stay at home and not to come. Simple as that.
“In a multiracial country like Malaysia, we choose to respect and appreciate each other as long as it follows the law,” he said.
Nga added that Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians, who comprise 54 ethnic groups and races.
“Respect others as you wish to be respected. We are strong because we are together,” he said.
Nga also thanked all workers and Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) officers who kept the streets clean after the major event.
“These unsung heroes are worthy of praise, and we salute and thank you for helping to keep our city clean.
“However, for those litterbugs, sorry. We have your records and are going after you,” he said.
