Hong Kong police officer fires service pistol by mistake at Kai Tak headquarters

A Hong Kong police officer accidentally fired a single round from her service firearm on Saturday morning, with no injuries reported.

The force said the incident occurred at the Kai Tak police headquarters at around 7.10am, when the officer was loading her semi-automatic pistol in a designated loading area on Concorde Road.

The officer is attached to the tactical unit of the force’s Kowloon East regional headquarters, which will follow up on the case.

Police reiterated that they had stringent regulations governing the use of equipment.

Last June, another officer accidentally discharged his firearm at the force’s headquarters in Wan Chai.

The officer was unloading his weapon in a designated area on Arsenal Street when a single round was fired. No injuries were reported.
