Hong Kong police launch investigation after man and woman found dead in flat
Pair found dead in a Sau Mau Ping flat after police received a report of a man sending distressed messages before becoming unreachable

Hong Kong police have launched an investigation after a man and a woman were found dead in a flat at a Sau Mau Ping public housing estate on Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a report at about 4.10pm from a man who suspected his brother had taken his own life inside a flat at Tat Yan House, Po Tat Estate.
The South China Morning Post learned that the man went up to check on the duo and heard his brother’s phone when he rang, but no one responded.
Firefighters forced entry into the flat and found a man, believed to be in his seventies, and a woman, also in her seventies, unconscious inside. Paramedics later certified both dead at the scene.
The SCMP learned that the man was found hanging in the toilet, while the woman was found lying on a bed under a blanket, with bruises on her face. The pair were reportedly divorced.
The caller told police that another sibling had received a distressing message from the deceased man saying he wanted to reunite with his son, who killed himself in 2018.
