It may not seem like fans of Stranger Things, Bridgerton, Harry Potter and Star Wars would overlap much on a Venn diagram, but Comic Con has always been where such fandoms converge. The first-ever Hong Kong Comic Con (HKCC) is no exception, with stars including Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), Katie Leung (Harry Potter, Bridgerton) and Daniel Logan (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones) expected at the event.

But that’s not all. We are also hyped for the appearance of actors such as Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal television series), Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian and Breaking Bad), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). Like the Comic Cons in the United States, meet-and-greet opportunities are available with limited “Meet the Stars” tickets. If you’ve ever wanted a photo, an autograph, or to gush to celeb(s) about how they’ve changed your life, this is your chance.

The star power doesn’t stop there. Hong Kong cinematic legend Louis Koo Tin-lok has been named the official ambassador. If you have any doubt about Koo’s qualifications to be the face of this event, simply look to the items from his impressive personal toy collection that will be on public display. An avid collector, Koo has amassed an array of toys and figurines, including life-size models of Marvel and DC characters. It’s proof that stars are just like us, but with more disposable income.

“I am looking forward to bringing the world-renowned Comic Con experience to Hong Kong,” says Koo. “This city has long been a meeting point of global cultures, and HKCC aims to take that further by creating a platform where Eastern and Western pop culture come together. One Cool Group [Koo’s entertainment company] is proud to support this event and contribute to the growth of Hong Kong’s creative and entertainment industries.”

The event will also highlight Hong Kong original productions, including the animation Another World and historical sci-fi flick Back to the Past, starring none other than Koo. Attendees will have a chance to take Koo home with them – in 1:6 scale form as a collectible inspired by Koo’s character in Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, created in collaboration with Hot Toys.
