Interim Hong Kong boss Losada’s long-term future up in air, to take charge in friendlies
City team will play Mongolia and Cambodia next month, but football bosses have still to name permanent successor to Ashley Westwood

Roberto Losada will be in charge of two Hong Kong friendlies next month, “for sure”, but the interim head coach is in the dark over whether he will be handed the job full time.
The city team have been without a boss since Ashley Westwood left last November following a failed 2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
Formerly manager of Hong Kong Premier League club Eastern, Losada took charge for friendly matches over the three months after Westwood’s exit, and was at the helm for the final Asian qualifier, a 2-1 defeat in India in March.
He has since had two interviews for the role, where Football Association of Hong Kong, China [HKFA] chiefs “asked a lot of things”.
Hong Kong are set for two friendlies next month. Their opponents have not been confirmed but they are almost certain to play Mongolia at home, potentially at Hong Kong Stadium if pitch renovations rule out Kai Tak Stadium, and have an away game in Cambodia.
“I will be in charge in June, for sure,” Losada said. “If a new coach comes, there would not be enough time [to prepare].
“I’m just waiting for the decision. The process is done, and I really don’t know when I will hear.”
