Lawmakers in Thailand voted overwhelmingly to pass a bill recognising same-sex marriage on March 27, 2024. The bill now advances to the upper house Senate and will need the endorsement of the King. If passed, the law is expected to take effect by the end of the year, and would make Thailand the first Southeast Asian nation to legalise same-sex marriage.
