Residents of Myawaddy, a town in southeastern Myanmar, have been fleeing across the border to Mae Sot in Thailand. The exodus was sparked by an escalation in fighting as rebels seeking to overthrow Myanmar’s ruling junta appeared poised to seize control of the border.
