90-year-old woman begins lifting weights after Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in Taiwan

Surrounded by three generations of her loving family, Cheng Chen Chin-Mei was one of 45 spirited participants who competed in a unique weightlifting event in Taiwan. The December 21, 2024, competition in Taipei was designed for seniors aged 70 and above. Cheng Chen turned to weightlifting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, in part because it helped improve her physique. She said her granddaughter motivated her to start pumping iron in August 2023.
