‘Turbaned Tornado’ marathon runner Fauja Singh dies at 114 in India

Fauja Singh was widely considered to be the world’s oldest marathon runner. He was hit by a car in India while crossing the road.

A British-Indian man, who at age 114 was widely considered the oldest marathon runner ever, died after being hit by a car while crossing a road in India on July 14, 2025. Fauja Singh was killed in his birth village of Beas Pind in the northwestern state of Punjab, according to local reports. Singh had been living in London and held multiple marathon records across age categories, and only rose to fame after entering the races at the age of 89 in 2000.
