Former South Korean president Yoon Suk-yeol, along with 23 people, plotted to declare martial law and install a military junta, according to findings announced by prosecutors on December 15, 2025. The formal indictment also said their plan included provoking a military conflict with North Korea and upending constitutional order by silencing opposition and replacing the National Assembly with an emergency legislative body. They said the ex-president started hatching the plan barely a year into office.
