Inter-Korean relations gradually worsened under the presidency of former South Korean leader Yoon Suk-yeol, who has been accused of deliberately provoking conflict on the peninsula. But overtures towards North Korean leader Kim Jong-un by Yoon’s successor, President Lee Jae Myung, have so far gone unanswered by Pyongyang.
