At least 18 people have been confirmed dead after a ferry sank off near an island in the southern Philippines at around midnight on January 26, 2026. More than 350 people were aboard the inter-island vessel carrying cargo and passengers to Jolo island in Sulu province from the port city of Zamboanga.
