North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appears to be taking steps to consolidate his daughter’s position as successor. South Korean lawmakers also said they see signs that Kim Ju-ae is providing input on policy matters. Believed to be in her early teenage years, the younger Kim has been increasingly prominently featured on North Korean state media accompanying her father on official visits, including to inspect weapons projects. There is speculation among North Korea analysts that she is being nurtured to become the country’s fourth-generation leader.
