Sri Lankan navy crews were seen lifting injured Iranian sailors from lifeboats on March 4, 2026, after a US torpedo sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena near the southern port city of Galle in Sri Lanka. Bodies recovered from the southern coast have been taken to a local mortuary. Authorities said dozens of sailors were confirmed dead and many more are still missing.
