North Korea’s Kim Jong-un calls for military overhaul in line with modern warfare

North Korean state television has aired new footage of the country’s leader Kim Jong-un inspecting a special operations training base. The footage, broadcast on March 29, 2026, shows Kim observing close-quarters military troop drills. It follows the unveiling of North Korea’s new five-year plan in February to expand its nuclear programme.
