Thai military showcases gutted town-sized scam complex on Cambodian border
The town-sized O’Smach Resort complex, which once housed 29 scam companies, occupies roughly 80 hectares (197 acres).
The Thai military invited journalists into the 80-hectare (197-acre) O’Smach Resort scam complex on the border with Cambodia on April 7, 2026. The complex used to house at least 10,000 workers. Scam compounds have popped up across Southeast Asia since the Coronavirus pandemic, with an Interpol report putting global losses to financial fraud in 2025 at around US$442 billion.
