Train driver in deadly Bangkok train-bus crash charged with negligence

Thai police have charged a train driver with negligence after a May 16, 2026, crash in Bangkok that killed at least eight people. The collision between a goods train and a public bus at a rail crossing also left more than 30 people injured. Officials said the train struck a bus that had been stopped on the tracks at a red light, sparking a fire that engulfed the vehicle and dragging several nearby vehicles along the tracks. Police said the bus driver would also be charged.
