Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu appeals against rape sentence

The Beijing No 3 Intermediate People’s Court has begun an appeal trial for Chinese-Canadian star Kris Wu. He was convicted of raping “three drunken women” and arranging “lewd activities” in November 2022. He was sentenced to 13 years in jail and deportation after the completion of his prison term. Wu then appealed to the intermediate court. After a hearing on July 25, 2023, the court said in a statement its ruling would be announced “later”.
