A sudden downpour triggered flash floods in the city of Wuzhou in southern China’s Guangxi province on August 5, 2025. Three people were trapped in their car amid fast-rising waters. A group of bystanders banded together to rescue them – the brave feat was caught on video. The heavy rain also triggered a deadly landslide in Guangzhou, the capital of neighbouring Guangdong province, prompting the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people from one district.
