US President Donald Trump has declared that a deal for TikTok satisfied the requirements of Washington’s sale-or-ban law for the Chinese-owned video-sharing app. The move caps months of deliberations and years of angst in the US over the app’s security implications. Trump’s September 25, 2025, executive order said, “I have determined that the proposed divestiture would allow the millions of Americans who enjoy TikTok every day to continue using it while also protecting national security.”
