China has revoked the political advisory roles of three generals, including two who previously held key positions in the People’s Liberation Army ground force. The country’s top political advisory body announced on March 2, 2026, that Han Weiguo, Gao Jin and Liu Lei were removed from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and their respective roles in its Standing Committee and special committees. The announcement comes just days before the annual “two sessions”, Beijing’s key political meetings.
