People’s Liberation Army holds second day of live-fire exercises around Taiwan

The People’s Liberation Army carried out a second day of large-scale drills around Taiwan on December 30, 2025, with a live-fire exercise in waters to the north of the island. The PLA Eastern Theatre Command said the drills – code-named Justice Mission 2025 – were a warning to “independence forces” and against external interference. The exercises come amid heightened tensions across the Taiwan Strait after Washington approved a record US$11.1 billion arms sales to Taiwan.’
