Illegal fireworks launched during Lunar New Year in Hong Kong
Parts of Hong Kong were lit up with illegal fireworks set off during the Lunar New Year as the city celebrates the holiday from February 1-3, 2022. Video widely shared online shows fireworks at many locations around the city. Illegal possession or discharge of fireworks and firecrackers carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a HK$25,000 (US$3,200) fine under Hong Kong’s Dangerous Goods Ordinance.
