A massive fire at a housing estate in Hong Kong’s Tai Po neighbourhood has left at least 65 people dead, with some 279 still missing. Thousands of residents have been left homeless, forcing hundreds of people to stay in temporary shelters. Hong Kong’s deadliest fire in decades erupted at Wang Fuk Court shortly before 3pm on November 26, 2025. It quickly spread and engulfed seven of the eight buildings in the estate. The tragedy has rallied the city’s residents to help those affected, with many donating clothes, goods and food. Others gave blood or opened their homes. Several hotel chains have also offered rooms for affected residents with nowhere to stay.
