Hongkongers mark traditional 7th day after death for victims of Tai Po fire
A funeral home opened for the public to those killed in Hong Kong’s deadliest residential fire.
Hongkongers on December 2, 2025 made paper offerings to those who died in the Wang Fuk Court fire. In traditional Chinese culture, it is believed the seventh day after death is when the soul returns to their family home to bid a final farewell. At least 156 people were killed in the fire at the Tai Po housing estate, which became engulfed in flames on November 26. Authorities are still trying to locate victims and identify remains recovered from the disaster site.
