Hong Kong’s deadliest fire in decades left Christy Lee a widow with two young children and a mother-in-law to care for and no home. Lee’s husband, Cyrus Li, was among the 168 people killed in the Wang Fuk Court fire in November 2025. Days after the tragedy, the government provided Lee and her family with a transitional housing unit at Lok Sin Village. But it was only 150 sq ft and too small to comfortably fit her family of four. Nearly a month later, they moved into a rented village house in Tai Po. Now Lee, as the family’s sole breadwinner, is struggling to rebuild their lives. She is also pushing for answers and accountability, saying it is something her late husband and the others killed in the fire need to rest in peace.
