From April 30, 2026, anyone caught carrying alternative smoking products in public in Hong Kong will face a HK$3,000 (US$383) fine. Carrying more than five vape pods or 100 heat sticks could result in up to six months in jail and a HK$50,000 fine. The move marks the final stage of Hong Kong’s ban on alternative smoking products, including e-cigarettes and heated tobacco. Officials say the measure aims to prevent young people from picking up smoking and to promote a smoke-free society.
