Funeral held for Chinese Muslim man killed in restaurant bombing in Afghanistan

The Afghan branch of Islamic State claimed responsibility for the Kabul attack, saying it was carried out by a suicide bomber.

A funeral was held on January 20, 2026, for a Chinese Muslim man who died the previous day in the bombing of a noodle shop in Kabul. Officials said the blast killed at least seven people, including six Afghans. Islamic State Khorasan (Isis-K) has claimed responsibility for the attack and Beijing has urged Kabul to protect Chinese nationals in the country.
