Chinese firm unveils hypersonic missile with promotional video showing strike on Japan

The private Chinese arms company Beijing Lingkong Tianxing unveiled a new low-cost YKJ-1000 hypersonic missile with a promotional video that illustrated an airstrike on Japan. The missile has a range of 500 to 1,300 kilometers, reaches speeds of Mach 5 to 7, and maintains powered flight for 360 seconds, according to the company. The missile, which can be launched from a shipping container, was “designed for rapid, precision strikes against high-value targets deep in enemy territory,” said the company’s spokesperson.
