Charlie Kirk, conservative activist and Trump ally, dead after being shot at US college

US conservative activist Charlie Kirk died after being shot at a campus event in the state of Utah on September 10, 2025. Investigators suspect the single bullet that killed Kirk was fired from a university building rooftop. FBI Director Kash Patel said a suspect who was taken into custody has since been released after interrogation. Flags on the White House’s north lawn were immediately lowered to half mast for the right-wing activist. Kirk was an influential ally of President Donald Trump, who has condemned the assassination as “a dark moment for America”.
