Veteran Victor The Winner took the lead from gate nine and after straightening two lengths on top, he kept finding for a eighth win at his 36th start. It was his best run of the campaign at his first start Valley start. Favourite Rising Force stayed on nicely for second after a prominent run from gate eight. It was another solid performance at his initial Valley start. Brown lamped Bottomupgtogether stayed on a distant third after a boxseat run. It was a good effort carrying 10lb over a longer trip after a win. Geneva made up heaps of ground late near the inside for fourth after biding his time fourth last from gate five. He was the only one to emerge from the back in a race run to suit those up front. Turquoise Velocity gradually faded after working forward three wide from gate 10 to track the speed. It was not a bad effort at his first Valley start. Sky Trust ran on steadily without threatening after a rails run from behind midfield. Glowing Praises whacked on one paced after a one-off trip from midfield. Punted late Regal Gem made only a mild bid near the outside after making his run one off the fence travelling behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (713) - THISTLE HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Horse No 3 COLOURFUL KING (K227) E Brown From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

E Brown stated that after settling back in the field his mount initially responded to his riding in the early stages of the Home Straight but finished the race off only fairly over the final 200 Metres.

Trainer D Eustace stated that with the early stages being run inside of standard time COLOURFUL KING found it difficult to make up ground carrying 134 lbs.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 SKY TRUST (J161) J Moreira Jumped only fairly and was then bumped shortly after the start.

Near the 200 Metres was inconvenienced when taken in by GLOWING PRAISES which shifted in before being corrected by its rider Apprentice P N Wong.

Horse No 5 EMBLAZON (K122) C L Chau Bumped on jumping.

C L Chau stated that his mount did not appreciate racing towards the inside where he felt the going was inferior.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 RISING FORCE (K236) R Kingscote Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 VICTOR THE WINNER (G404) Y L Chung When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer P C Ng stated that the horse was advantaged by commencing well and being able to obtain the lead.

Horse No 9 SIGHT HERMOSO (L003) K Teetan K Teetan stated that his mount jumped only fairly and settled back in the field.

He said when asked for an effort in the Home Straight SIGHT HERMOSO failed to respond to his riding and raced in a disappointing manner.

Trainer J Size stated that, in his opinion, the horse had reached the end of its preparation and it would now be spelled.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SIGHT HERMOSO, a last start winner, was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, SIGHT HERMOSO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 10 GENEVA (J114) M F Poon Near the 200 Metres was momentarily crowded by SKY TRUST.

Horse No 11 TURQUOISE VELOCITY (K533) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.

M L Yeung stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, was uncomfortable on the turns and would derive benefit from tonight's race experience.

Horse No 12 GLOWING PRAISES (L223) P N Wong Bumped at the start by EMBLAZON which shifted out.

Whip Rule Offences - 17 May 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 1 (694) L Ferraris (HAILTOTHEVICTORS) was warned in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion after the 200 Metres.

Race 5 (698) The explanation provided by L Ferraris, rider of ISLAND BUDDY, in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 50 Metres was accepted.

Race 8 (701) A Badel (ROMANTIC FANTASY) was warned for using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner on one occasion near the 50 Metres.
